I first installed the manufacturer driver, then 185.85, if the order matters at all. Then you are you resolve mem_bad_pointer popup issue and programs booted after any redistribution or battery, restart mac fix laptop and insert boot! If you need. Some instances of svchost had shuffled around in resource usage, that's all.īTW, I have installed the v185.85 drivers now. I checked which processes were running, and nothing was different really. So, what do you guys think could be causing this behavior? Do we still think it's software, or is it hardware? They just replaced the motherboard, so that should be fine could it be the wireless card? Does disabling and reenabling the wireless card do something physically to the card, such as powering it off and on again? I'm going to try pulling the wireless card out and just using a wired connection for a while to see if it still freezes.

The mouse unfreezes and video playback goes back to normal. All I have to do is tell the wireless card to repair itself and whatever was catching is fixed. Another thing, when I was experiencing this before, I developed a workaround. I wouldn't have known, except that it also caused the video to screech to a really halting playback. It happened while I was watching videos with vlc. Thanks in advance- awesome site you guys have. # Graphics Card - Geforce 7600 Go, DEV_ID 0398 # Laptop Make/Model - Everex XT5000T (I know, I hadn't heard of them either until I found it on Newegg) Just wanted your opinions on what could be wrong before proceeding. I suppose I can try installing v169.26 again, but I don't want to break my system. For now, I have re-reformatted, and just have the Everex driver installed.Īny ideas? I would like some better performance than whatever the manufacturer's driver can give out. Maybe I should have used the "Roll back driver" feature in Device Manager.

When I tried to uninstall v185.85 (via Add/remove progs), it did not fix the issue. Also, when I use the crappy driver from the manufacturer, the mouse behavior doesn't happen either. However, when I first got this laptop (7-17-07), I used a driver from here, I'm guessing v169.26, and I did not see this issue. I saw this behavior before on a driver I used from here, so I don't think it's just v185.85. The mouse's icon stays in place somewhere on the screen, but an invisible cursor continues to move around, fully functional. If/when the mouse freezes, it's only partially frozen. Reinstalled XP Pro and the latest driver from here (185.85). So, I just got my laptop back from the manufacturer (Everex) where the mobo was replaced.
